Firefox crosses 10 Mn mark.

Okay, this is in series of my obsession with Firefox, the best web browser. The latest Firefox1.0 version has clocked downloads(hold your breath) more than 10 Million times in 32 days, since it was launched. This goes out to show, how people have been looking for alternatives to the IE.

New statistics show, depending upon who you ask, IE share slid by 3% to 5% over last four months, and the sole gainer has been Firefox. But they all agree on one point, that Firefox is gaining. And given the new target of Firefox community- capturing 10% market share the blitzkreig is going to get even bigger. The roadmap of Firefox 2.0, definitely targets a whole new set of features that are going to keep it a worthy contender for a very long time.

Microsoft can always copy features, and then sell them better than others, so definitely we will see a response, from them that will match Firefox feature by feature. But the first thing they have to do, is to convince people that IE is not the gate of all security vulnerabilites on any computer. Which is far tougher job to do than cranking out numbers in its favor. As practically every technology aware individual, and through them, the not so techsavvy crowd knows IE is currently the root cause no 1 for all vulnerabilities on their computers. Till then, Firefox will continue to ignite the browser space.
