Ferrari’s new winner(?) unveiled

Ferrari announced their new car for the 2005 Formula 1 season, Which their Technical Director Ross Brown calls “evolution and not revolution“. As it appears the changes introduced are more to deal with the new regulation on tyres (The major factor atleast) , where the driver has to use same set of tyres for qualifying and the race, and the tyres must last that long. The tyres can be changed only if they are damaged or punctured. The changes in the new car, ensure that there is less downforce, thus reducing the wear and tear.

The New Ferrari car for 2005 Season

This car will not be racing untill the Spanish GP which is the fifth race of the season. This also gives Ferrari a lead to assess the impacts of the new regulations, and allows for changes if any are required. Last years car, the F2004 turned out to be head and shoulders above any other car in the championship, and I dont see any car matching upto to that even in 2005. Changes incorporated in F2005 ensure that Ferrari stays on top.
The important point is that, F2005 doesnt target power for improvement, it targets the strategy of fewer pitstops, necessitated by new regulations. Having decimated the competition in power and agility (except may be the Williams) its time to look at new ways of winning.
