Firefox Rocks and Resets the Internet

Want to get rid of the Viruses, and Trojans that sneak into your computer through Internet Explorer?

Now you’d say, there’s no alternative. Well, there is!! and it’s called Firefox. Created by Mozilla Foundation, the people who gave you the awesome Netscape Navigator ( Remember? the one that lost the First Browser war?? ) and disappeared after promising the complete rewrite of code. Well, these guys were working overtime to fulfil the promise that they made. The result is Firefox. Get Firefox! and see what I mean.

Okay, I am impressed so much that I will do a bit of Advertising for them here. Here’s a list of Features that I tried and Liked:

  • Popup Blocking: I found this feature really effective. It blocked out all the Popups that you see on the website of The Slimes of India. Also, this feature is customizable, right click on the Yellow bar at the top, and you can say Allow popups from this website.
  • Tabbed Browsing: Reduce the clutter on your Taskbar, and by viewing more than one web page in a single window.
  • Privacy and Security: Harmful ActiveX controls weeded out. And since no popups, there is no chance of irritants like Gator installer popping up in front of you.
  • Search: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Dictionary, searches are built-in. And I configured the Wikipedia search in less than 30 seconds.
  • Highly Customizable: Customize – Toolbars, Extensions, Themes etc.
  • Live Bookmarks: RSS feeds can be bookmarked, so they are automatically updated.
  • Managing Downloads: There’s a Download Manager built in. Not like the IE “Downloading..” popup.
  • Find as you Type: They haven’t mentioned it on their first page, but this is one thing that impressed me most. Do a Ctrl+F, there is a little toolbar that you will see at the bottom, of the browser. Now as you write something there, you will see, that it gets highlighted on the webpage that you are browsing. Welcome to the new improved world of Finding on the Page.

There are lot more features. I have written about the ones that I have used. And I must say, I am very satisfied with what I experienced in Firefox. It’s been two days, and I am thinking of making it my Default Browser.
