IPad Usage: Creation or Consumption? Or Both?

First off, despite its shortcomings in my view, IPad is the best tablet out there. Nothing comes close to it. Except possibly the Nexus 7.
But, if you belive that IPad is a content creation device, The Infographic below as compiled by Infographic Labs showing the usage patters will clear your doubts. Not to say that other tablets would be much different in their usage patterns.
Reasons:
1. You cannot type long enough on any of the tablet devices, to create serious content. Not even for a long email or a blog post.
Frequently the emails that end with Automated signature,

Best regards,

Firstname Lastname

Sent from my IPad

have lesser actual content than the signature itself.

2. Stylus helps, but remember some believe If you see a stylus, they blew it. The success of Samsung Galaxy Note proves that styluses are just getting started.

3. Keypad is required for any significant amount of typing, bolding, italicising, underlining, paragraphing, headlining, cut, crop, layer, frame-edit etc. Probably Asus Transformer Pad comes closest to a creation device, due to its keyboard. Even the hardcore IPad users will need key board attachment, or horror of horrors- A Stylus.

You are fooling yourself and damaging your productivity, if you believe tablets can be used any thing more than “Content Curation” or “Casual content creation”. They are not there yet.  For anything more serious , you either need a full desktop, or a set of expensive peripherals for your tablet devices.  That pretty much brings the price to an average laptop.

Apple fanatics form majority of people who fervently believe IPad/Tablets are content creation device (and Post PC era arrived three years ago).
